Preston Mosque Opened Its Doors to All for a Better Understanding of Islam

Masjid-e-Saliheen in Preston opened its doors to visitors as part of'‘Visit My Mosque'’ Day, offering a unique opportunity for guests to learn about Islam, witness live prayers, and share in the values of peace, hospitality, and community.

Hawzah News Agency- Masjid-e-Saliheen in Preston welcomed members of the wider community as part of the annual ‘Visit My Mosque’ Day, inviting people to learn more about Islam and the local Muslim community.

Guests were given guided tours of the mosque, with volunteers explaining the daily life and role of the mosque as a place not only of worship but also of community support and learning.

Many attendees had the chance to watch live prayers and hear the call to prayer an experience several described as peaceful and moving.

Inside the main hall, visitors explored exhibitions of Islamic art and Arabic calligraphy, offering insight into centuries of artistic tradition and spiritual expression.

One of the organisers, Ismail Timol said: “We were delighted to welcome so many people from different backgrounds.

“It’s always wonderful to see curiosity and kindness bringing the community together. We hope visitors left with a better understanding of our faith and our shared values of peace and compassion''.

Maulana Imtiyaz Kamal, Imam of the mosque for over 30 years, added: “Our doors are always open. Events like this remind us that we are all part of one wider community. Faith should bring people together, not separate them — and seeing so many friends and neighbours visit the mosque today has been truly heart-warming''.

Councillor Carol Henshaw, who visited the Mosque for the first time, said: “Everyone was so welcoming. I've always loved hearing the call to prayer, and it was really interesting to see the live afternoon prayers, hear from the children, and learn about what happens inside the mosque.

Masjid-e-Saliheen would like to thank all attendees, volunteers, and community members who helped make the day possible.

Organisers are hoping to hold similar events in the future to continue building understanding and friendship across Preston.
